Alexis Vick

Born a healthy baby, Alexis was first admitted to Wolfson Children’s at just three weeks old, after her first seizure. She was later diagnosed with polymicrogyria, in which a small area on the left side of her brain didn’t grow like it should have.
After numerous seizures and hospital stays at Wolfson Children’s Hospital for testing, we were advised that Alexis needed to have brain surgery to remove the area causing the seizures.
That surgery took place at Miami Children’s Hospital. This was trying and testing of my faith, but we got through it with the support of many friends and family. The surgery was a success and with the help of medication and visits to her neurologist, Alexis has been seizure-free for over a year now!
Alexis is still a regular at Wolfson Children’s, but for outpatient rehabilitation.
