Courtney Starr

Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) at birth, Courtney has been battling this horrible disease for 11 years. A life-threatening lung infection, cystic fibrosis has created a routine for Courtney. Her daily regimen involves taking approximately 40 pills a day, along with therapy treatments several times a day. Typically hospitalized twice a year, Courtney usuallys stays at Wolfson Children’s Hospital for 12-14 days each time. Courtney has spent more than 115 days in the hospital, and started her summer for the last two years in the hospital for a tune-up.
Only in the 6th grade, Courtney has had to take on a huge responsibility at such a young age, but she rarely complains about taking her meds or doing her treatments.
Despite the daily battles and struggles of having cystic fibrosis, Courtney is determined to not let her disease slow her down. She has an unmeasured amount of strength and determination to continue to fight until a cure is found.
Courtney enjoys the outdoors. She completed her first triathlon in 2010 and also enjoys basketball, volleyball, golf and swimming. She is now in her 8th year of dance. As her dad shares, Courtney is our true hero!
