Emma Ruth Ferguson Born one month premature, Emma Ruth spent her first month of life at Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit.

Emma Ruth was diagnosed with VATER syndrome, a disease that presents with various birth defects. For Emma Ruth, she had issues with her esophagus and trachea.

In her four years of life, Emma Ruth has seen doctors at Wolfson Children’s Hospital for various reasons; urologists, GI doctors and more. But through it all, Emma Ruth’s family is thankful to have had such a great facility.

Her mom recalls the stress of the NICU, but more the hope and support that the staff gave her. Everyone was positive, asked how she was, shared her concerns and made her feel as strong as she could be. This care helped alleviate the stress of having your newborn child in the care of others.
