Jordyn Wilson

At 20 weeks gestation, Jordyn’s mom found out her baby had a heart defect. Referred to the ROC group, she was followed closely by Dr. Lacey. Jordyn was born with tricuspid atresia, her heart has three chambers instead of four. A diagnosis that requires three surgeries. She was also born without a spleen.
Preparing for her first surgery, physicians discovered that Jordyn also had Intestinal Malrotation, a condition where her intestines are straight instead of curved. She required surgery to curve the intestines, and physicians removed her appendix and inserted a gtube at the same time.
At just ten months of age, Jordyn has had a total of three surgeries and four catherizations. In addition the inpatient time she’s spent at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Jordyn also relies on the outpatient therapy. She has graduated from physical and speech therapy, and hopes to be done with occupational therapy soon. She’s also had her gtube removed.
A stranger wouldn’t know anything was every wrong. Jordyn is playful and has a perfect smile.
As Jordyn’s mom recalls, when you are told something is wrong while you are pregnant, you try to prepare, but it is still tough. Jordyn had to fight for her life when she was born.
She is so thankful to have a community resource in her back yard. She couldn’t imagine adding the stress of travel to receive medical care.
