Kadence Anderson
Two year old Kadence was having trouble breathing. That is when his family brought him to Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Kadence was later diagnosed with asthma, and was having an asthma attack.
Kadence’s family is very thankful for Wolfson Children’s Hospital, they helped more than one generation. Kadence’s dad also suffered from asthma as a child, and stayed at Wolfson Children’s twice a year. What he remembered from his childhood is still true today. The nurses and staff work hard to keep the children occupied and distracted from their illness. His dad said Kadence’s stay was like coming home, he even recognized some of the nurses.
As his dad shared, you might not have children, but you have friends that have children and you never know when they might need Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
Childhood asthma is an epidemic inDuval County. A recent report by the Duval County Health Department found that the county had 24 percent more asthma-related emergency room visits than the state average. Not surprisingly, asthma is the number-one reason children miss school and, subsequently, their parents miss work.
The Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson (CAPW) is working to reverse this trend. CAPW, a leading resource in our community for information and assistance in managing childhood asthma, offers programs and services to help children, families, educators, health providers and other members of the community, better manage this life-threatening condition.
As for Kadence, you would never know anything was wrong, today he is a rambunctious, little boy that never skips a beat.
