Every Child Deserves Another Birthday

Five year old Gregory’s parents are well-schooled in parenting and in doing what is best for their children;  after all Gregory is the youngest of five.  You can image their surprise when, as his mom Trish says, “Gregory was born with teeth issues.”

Old Mr. Tooth Decay must have taken a liking to Gregory early on.

For inexplicable reasons, Gregory was born with teeth that didn’t come in properly, and the ones that did come in, decayed easily.   When he was just two years old, he had crowns put on four teeth. When the crowns didn’t hold, the family decided to wait until Gregory was older to have them redone.

The Bevills moved from Texas to Florida, and it was here that Trish found the perfect dentist for Gregory. Mrs. Bevill knew that she wanted a dentist who could care for special needs children to also care for her young son.   Dr. Howard Schneider was the answer to a lot of prayers.  At Gregory's initial assessment, Dr. Schneider suggested that the extensive dental work be done at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. This was exactly what Mrs. Bevill wanted since Gregory's past dental experiences as a toddler had been very tough on the little guy.

Way more than what most adults would ever want to experience in dental work, during the three and a half hour surgery, Gregory had four front teeth pulled and all of his molars repaired, crowned or filled. When the surgery took longer than expected, the Bevills were immediately notified and reassured that all was well. They were grateful to have been continuously apprised of Gregory's condition. Things went so well that Gregory was never afraid.

With five children, Mr. and Mrs. Bevill are familiar with children's hospitals in other parts of the country.  Before they ever came through the doors of Wolfson Children’s, they were confident that Gregory would get top notch care here. They found the staff completely focused on their son, and they liked the fact that they were referred to as "Gregory's Mom" or "Gregory's Dad." To them, this said that Gregory was what was most important.

Soon it will be time for Gregory’s new teeth to erupt.  Will they come in normally and will they be problem free??  That is the hope!!  However, Gregory is ready no matter what.  After all, it is pretty cool to be one of Dr Schneider’s patients and actually get to go to the operating room for complex dental problems.
