"We don’t have the average kid with broken bones or concussions like so many parents have!"
No siree! Our Taylor Mac Smith was born with multiple medical challenges and his life has been characterized by endless life-saving measures from Wolfson’s medical staff over more than 17 years now. We like to call them miracles.
The list of health issues Taylor Mac has faced is long and sounds unbelievably exotic. From adenoid removal and tubes inserted in his ears to dealing with life-threatening food allergies along with fused fingers, sleep apnea and diagnostic neurological tests for delayed motor skills at 9 months, not to mention several emergency room visits, for dehydration and for diagnosing kidney disease. No sirree. Only unusual things for Taylor Mac.
Currently he is under the supervision of doctors at the allergy clinic at Nemours Children’s Clinic for the food stuff and, also bizarre, for animal allergies and a fire ant allergy. Taylor Mac wears a Medic Alert bracelet that warns its reader to immediately call 911...and "to take him to our hospital of choice, Wolfson."
"Wolfson has been there for us, from diagnosis to treatment over and over again, and consistently delivers courteous and professional care to both patient and family," reports his family. "Because of the urgent precariousness of Taylor Mac’s medical history, we have been in other emergency room facilities both in state and out of state. There, we often encounter a kind of numbness in the staff’s attitude. But we have never once had a bad experience at Wolfson’s. Wolfson’s complete commitment to and undistracted focus on pediatric care has given us great comfort in our very specific medical issues and this includes especially the on-call doctors in the emergency room."
Taylor Mac and his family know. They have become reluctant experts at hospital and emergency care. They know the best when they see it!
